Skilled Visas

Australia has a Skilled Workers shortage and therefore the Australian General Skilled Migration Scheme (GSMS) allows individuals with certain skills and work experience the opportunity to qualify for one of the skilled visas to immigrate to Australia.

There are a number of visa options in the General Skilled Migration category. All applicants in the skills category must be under 45 years of age and have competent English.

From 1 July 2012, if you are interested to apply for a skilled visa to migrate to Australia, you may need to submit an expression of interest (EOI) in SkillSelect. The interested applicants could record their information in EOI, to be considered for a skilled visa. This is a free online application process for any individual to indicate that he/she is interested to be considered as a skilled migrant.

The Australian employers or state and territory governments could find your details in the SkillSelect data base and could nominate you to get a skilled visa in the near future. The Australian Government will also invite you to lodge a visa application, once they are satisfied with your information in the SkillSelect. SkillSelect is accelerating the processing time of a visa application and is refining the employment prospects of skilled migrants.
